Often, students enjoy internships in high school athletic departments, college athletics, and media relations. In addition, students in the major will be able to take on jobs in event marketing, on-air talent, or public relations.


Sports media careers can be very competitive and highly sought-after. The industry is multi-billion-dollar and drives audience interaction in sports globally. These careers often have excellent job prospects, and many are rewarding. Students will have the chance to work with live events and sports personalities and get hands-on experience. The Indianapolis area is the home of the NCAA, the Indiana Fever, and the Pacers. It is also home to the Indianapolis 500.


Students interested in pursuing a career in sports media can enroll in a BA in sports communication and media at Rider University. This program combines hands-on production with challenging history and theory courses. Students graduate with the ability to create and edit sports media. Additionally, the school's location in the middle of the sports media industry makes internship opportunities available in many local sports media companies. You can also take a minor in sports media if you'd like to explore the field and develop a broad understanding of media theory and technical skills.

This program is the most extensive undergraduate program for sports media worldwide and is known for its hands-on training. More than two hundred students complete the program annually.
